Note: This procedure is to
be carried out from underneath the vehicle.
This procedure is for 1999 vehicles and up that are not equipped with a transmission
dipstick.
The vehicle must be level and the transmission must be at room temperature
(between 68-104 degrees F). The transmission cannot be any hotter than just
warm to the touch.
If you have just changed the filter or the fluid, remove the check/filler
plug located at the right front of the transmission pan. (See diagram). Fill
with Dexron III ATF until it just runs out.
Start the engine and allow idle to stabilize.
Check the fluid as follows: If you have not removed the oil filler/level plug,
remove it and fill until it just runs out of the hole. Run the transmission
through all gears. Recheck level, making sure it just runs out of the hole.
Replace the oil filler/check plug. You may reuse the seal ring.
